AGES AND STAGES QUESTIONNAIRE
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends standardized developmental screening at 9, 18, and 30 [or alternately, 24] months for all children. Ready for School is committed to supporting healthcare providers to implement these recommendations which will result in early identification of children 0-5 years of age with developmental needs.
As part of Ready for School’s ongoing mission to ensure that every child is prepared to succeed in school, it is imperative to both identify and intervene on behalf of children with developmental delays. Early identification and intervention has the potential of reducing education and healthcare costs and improving quality of life for parents and children. With the use of developmental assessment tools such as the Ages and Stages Questionnaire 3 (ASQ3), healthcare provider teams will identify possible delays and can refer to community resources for children 0-3 years of age such as Early On and Parents as Teachers home visiting, and for children 3-5 years of age to school-based resources.
